How to calculate GPA in three steps

  1. Convert each grade to points. On the 4.0 scale an A is 4.0, a B is 3.0 and a C is 2.0.
  2. Multiply by credits. A 4.0 in a 3-credit course earns 12 quality points.
  3. Divide total points by total credits. 45 quality points over 15 credits is a 3.00 GPA.

Our GPA calculator does this for you and adds your previous GPA to give your new cumulative GPA.
